Future Talks

To celebrate 50 years of the New Folkestone Society, the theme for our talks in 2024 is History becomes our Heritage.

Unless otherwise specified, all events will take place at The Cornerstone Centre Back Hall (former URC Church). Doors open 2pm. Admission will be £5. Tickets can be purchased fee-free in advance at: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/newfolkestonesociety

Saturday 20 April 2.30pm – Folkestone’s long-lost Georgian Theatre
Jean Baker will recall the remarkable story of Sarah Baker (no relation!) and her involvement in the theatre on The Bayle. https://www.newfolkestonesociety.org.uk/event/folkestones-long-lost-georgian-theatre

Saturday 25 May 2.30pm – AGM & By Order of the Scarecrow
Northern Nick, a performance storyteller, will perform ‘By Order of the Scarecrow. Serve God, Honour the King, but first maintain the Wall!”

Saturday 29 June 2.30pm – Ancient Villas of the East Cliff
Alison Moore from Folkestone Museum will give a glimpse at the two Roman Villas at East Wear Bay.

We hope to be able to put the postponed Leas Pavilion talk somewhere in the 2024 schedule.
